Pregnancy Chiropractic in Aiken
Pregnancy brings a lot of physical change in a relatively short time. As your belly grows and your posture shifts, you may notice new discomfort in your lower back, hips or pelvis. Even everyday movements such as getting out of bed, sitting for long periods or finding a comfortable sleeping position can feel different.
At Living Well Family Chiropractic, Dr. Christopher Ethridge adapts chiropractic care throughout pregnancy, with attention to your comfort and the changing demands on your body.
Chiropractic Care as Your Body Changes
As pregnancy progresses, changes in posture and weight distribution can place different stresses on the muscles and joints of the back and pelvis. Chiropractic care during pregnancy focuses on evaluating how these areas are moving and addressing joint restrictions when appropriate.
Reasons Expectant Mothers Seek Care
Every pregnancy is different, and so is the reason someone may decide to visit a chiropractor. Common musculoskeletal concerns include:
- Lower back discomfort
- Hip or pelvic discomfort
- Stiffness related to changing posture
- Restricted or uncomfortable movement
- Increased physical strain as pregnancy progresses
Your care is based on your individual needs and examination findings rather than a predetermined pregnancy protocol.

Care That Adapts With You
Early in pregnancy, we may use gentle drop-table techniques similar to those used with other patients. A drop table has padded sections that lower slightly during an adjustment, allowing for controlled movement.
As your belly grows, the table can be modified to provide more room and help you remain comfortable. During the later stages of pregnancy, Dr. Ethridge may use an adjusting instrument for the lower back. This small, spring-loaded handheld tool delivers a light, controlled adjustment without requiring the same positioning or pressure as some hands-on techniques.
Visit frequency also varies. Rather than assuming every expectant mother needs the same schedule, we consider your symptoms, stage of pregnancy and how you’re responding to care.
Comfortable, Individualized Care
You should feel comfortable asking questions about any care you receive while pregnant. Dr. Ethridge will explain his approach and why he believes a particular technique may be appropriate for you.
If pregnancy-related back, hip or pelvic discomfort is making everyday movement more difficult, contact Living Well Family Chiropractic to schedule an appointment and discuss whether chiropractic care may be an option for you.
